Monsta X, Hwa Sa, Woodkid And Davido: Moves On The World Songs Chart

A few weeks ago, Billboard reformatted a handful of its rankings, shortening the World Digital Song Sales chart in the process. The list went from 25 spaces to just 15, and thus there are typically fewer headline-grabbing debuts these days, as there is simply less real estate for the biggest names to occupy.

This frame, five tracks debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart, meaning one-third of all the rungs are filled by just-released cuts. Of that bunch, just one name, Hwa Sa, scores more than one new smash, and she demonstrates her popularity and power once more with the placements.

Here are five tracks whose moves are worth noting on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart.

No. 7 – Hwa Sa – “I’m A B”

Mamamoo singer and solo superstar Hwa Sa is back on the World Digital Song Sales chart with not one, but two new releases. The musician recently released a new short project titled Guilty Pleasure, which features just three tracks, and all but one of them appears on the purchase-only tally this period. “I’m A B” leads the pair, landing at No. 7. That cut is also the loftiest debut of the frame, and it is only a few spaces ahead of “Bless U,” which launches at No. 10. It looks like Hwa Sa has now reached the top 10 on the World Digital Song Sales chart with four tunes on her own.

No. 9 – Woodkid – “Guns For Hire”

French singer, songwriter and music video director Woodkid is back with his latest single “Guns For Hire,” which kicks off its time on the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 9. The tune was written and composed specifically for the TV show Arcane, and clearly fans of the program and the musician himself enjoyed it enough to buy the title in large enough qualities to send it right into the top 10 on the tally.

No. 11 – Monsta X – “Rush Hour”

South Korean boy band Monsta X are no strangers to the World Digital Song Sales chart, and this week they’re back with yet another hit single. “Rush Hour” fronts the band’s new EP No Limit, which was released a very short time ago. The cut begins its time on the purchase-focused ranking at No. 11, with the band landing yet another major smash on the list.

No. 13 – Davido x Focalistic – “Champion Sound”

Nigerian-American musician Davido returns to the World Digital Song Sales chart with his new single “Champion Sound,” which narrowly breaks onto the 15-spot list, landing at No. 13. Davido has now appeared on the list with 22 different tunes, and this time around he brings fellow African artist Focalistic into the fray.
